Adding to the list of artists who want Birdman to run that cash money, is original Hot Boy Turk, who filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against the label boss earlier this month. Citing that he had not received royalties from the label since 1998, the rapper joins the likes of Lil Wayne and Tyga, who also have very public money-related gripes with Baby. And now, Turk has applied more pressure to the rap mogul regarding his suit.
“If they don’t answer by March 11, it will be declared a default judgement,” Turk toldAllHipHop.
Giving Birdman 21 days to reply, Turk is requesting that the label provide accounting documents for royalties owed to him. The rapper claims that Cash Money did not register his shares with BMI for his 2001 album Young & Thuggin’, nor for other other songs the rapper appeared on, including Juvenile’s “Ha (Remix).”
Birdman has remained reticent in all matters regarding Wayne, Tyga and Turk’s legal issues.
Tensions between Diddy and Drake are still sky high after their Miami fight — and now Drake’s longtime mentor is blasting Diddy, Suge Knight, Lil Wayne and Birdman in a blistering diss track.
Rap-A-Lot Records CEO James Prince recently recorded the cold-blooded warning — which we’re told he calls a “courtesy call” — and we got our hands on it.
Sources connected to J. Prince tell us this has been simmering since Diddy punched Drake at LIV Nightclub back in December. On the track, Prince makes it clear Drizzy is “family,” and adds … “Puffy feeling like he can put his hands on my family, open the doors for his family to be touched. You reap what you sow.”
That’s just the start … he goes in on Weezy and Birdman — with whom he’s had a long-running legal war — and also rips “Sugar Bear” for a not-so-subtle jab at Drake he made to a TMZ camera guy.
You gotta hear the rant … it plays like a manifesto, but with a beat.
Grammy weekend is the hectic weekend in February every year where music’s biggest stars converge in Los Angeles for the annual awards show. While that means you can see celebrities left and right, it also means any petty ongoing beefs can come to a head at any moment. That’s exactly what happened when Birdman showed up at Nicki Minaj’s Pre-Grammy party at last night.
Stunna arrived at 1:45 AM looking to get into the club and was denied entrance before ever really getting close to the door. As you can see in the video, the bouncers call the police over for assistance and have a bit of a heated conversation with Birdman and his entourage.
TMZ says the reason he was denied is because the club was already closed and that could be true because liquor can’t be served in California after 2AM ,so most clubs do close around that time. However, at around the 1:05 mark you can hear someone saying what sounds like “Nicki said she don’t want you in.” Listen for yourself and be the judge.
If she did indeed make the remark, it definitely gives more weight to the rumor that Lil Wayne is looking to take Nicki (and Drake) with him if/when he leaves Cash Money and also gives a hint to which side Nicki’s taken in the whole ordeal.
Lil Wayne wants out of Cash Money, and he’s taking Drake and Nicki Minaj with him.
The Young Money chief plans to sue Birdman for his release from Cash Money, and also claims that Birdman owes him an $8 million advance for his album Tha Carter V.
In addition to demanding money, TMZ reports that Wayne will sue Birdman to ensure that Young Money’s artists remain under his control.
In addition to Drake and Nicki, this includes the rest of the Young Money roster—Christina Milian, Lil Twist, and Mack Maine, who doubles as the label’s president.
Weezy believes the artists should go with him because their contracts are with Young Money.
Cash Money has a distribution deal with all of Young Money’s acts. The issue will likely have to be settled in court, but Wayne is adamant about taking his crew with him.
He also seems confident about Drake and Nicki’s loyalty to him. On his remix to “CoCo” off his mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait 2, he boasts, “I ain’t trippin’, I got Barbie, I got Drake too.”
