Drake is taking another hand at designing outerwear with his latest collaboration for Canadian based clothing label Roots. The OVO varsity jacket is dipped in black bison leather with Canada and USA’s respective flags stitched on the arm.
The sleek apparel is priced at $878, and will be available at the OVO store in Drizzy’s hometown of Toronto, which newly opened to the public late last year, and hosts a number of the “10 Bands” rapper’s clothing creations with his acronym imprint.
Last week, Drake dropped If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late as a surprise release for sale on iTunes, following months of rumors that he had a mixtape in the works.
In a new interview with HipHopDX, DatPiff founder Kyle “KP” Reilly revealed that If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late was originally planned as a free release on his mixtape site. Instead, Drake’s label, Cash Money, pushed for it to be released through retail. It was supposed to be hosted by DJ Drama as part of his Gangsta Grillz series.
“Originally we were in talks to release it for free,” Reilly said. “However the label was not in favor of that and they struck an agreement to release the project the retail route and it would count towards one of his albums.”
He added, “It was a mutual decision since he wanted to give it away. [The label] said, ‘Hell no,’ not in those words, so they ‘agreed’ to do it this way as a middle ground and it would count towards his Cash Money deal album total.”
The decision paid off, as If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 this week, selling 495,000 copies.
Drake’s mentor Lil Wayne is currently involved in a lawsuit seeking $51 million and contractual freedom from Cash Money.

Tensions between Diddy and Drake are still sky high after their Miami fight — and now Drake’s longtime mentor is blasting Diddy, Suge Knight, Lil Wayne and Birdman in a blistering diss track.
Rap-A-Lot Records CEO James Prince recently recorded the cold-blooded warning — which we’re told he calls a “courtesy call” — and we got our hands on it.
Sources connected to J. Prince tell us this has been simmering since Diddy punched Drake at LIV Nightclub back in December. On the track, Prince makes it clear Drizzy is “family,” and adds … “Puffy feeling like he can put his hands on my family, open the doors for his family to be touched. You reap what you sow.”
That’s just the start … he goes in on Weezy and Birdman — with whom he’s had a long-running legal war — and also rips “Sugar Bear” for a not-so-subtle jab at Drake he made to a TMZ camera guy.
You gotta hear the rant … it plays like a manifesto, but with a beat.
Toronto Raptors forward Demar DeRozan recently spilled the beans of a new Drake mixtape in the works. He said we could expect it in January, so unless it drops in the next five days, he was wrong. Well P Reign has confirmed with Karen Civil that the mixtape is real. “I know Drake’s dropping a mixtape that I’ve already heard a lot of and it’s crazy. I think it’s some of the best I’ve heard from him in my life and I already know off Drake’s mixtape the world is going to shake.” There’s no official release date yet, but we can probably expect it to arrive before his new album “Views From The 6.”
